In 2025, the Fort Vancouver Rose Society will be enjoying its 72nd year of growing and celebrating the rose. All are WELCOME to our meetings and events as described below. AND, the Fort Vancouver Rose Society is very proud to announce the theme of the 2025 FVRS Rose Show: 200 YEARS OF ROSES AT THE FORT. The show, our 70th annual, will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025, in the Exhibition Hall at the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds. This will be a new location for the show--we are very excited to be working with the Clark County Event Center staff with Friends of Fort Vancouver, our namesake, in presenting this year's show.
NEXT MEETING: Thursday, June 5: Always hugely informative, as well as entertaining, is our next featured speaker: Dr. Charold Baer. Rose expert Charold has provided excellent rose education to our members for many years; and on Thursday, June 5, she will talk to us on The 5 "E's" of Exhibiting (Educating, Evaluating, Entering, Expanding and Enjoying) as some of the specifics of exhibiting roses. Charold's talk is designed to assist individuals who are new to exhibiting or who are interested in learning more about the components of exhibiting. With the 2025 Rose Show less than two months away, her presentation will be timely for anyone desiring to exhibit roses at the June 28th rose show (see EXHIBITOR Show Book below).
As always, the public is very much welcomed to attend: 7 p.m., June 5, in the Parish Hall at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Vancouver.
FVRS at 2025 Camas Plant & Garden Fair: FVRS had a booth at the 26th Annual Camas Plant & Garden Fair on Saturday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It was our second year to promote FVRS at this wonderful community fair. FVRS members Mike Giddings and David Goggin spearheaded our efforts to promote the Society. Thank you to everyone who helped set up, "people" and take down the FVRS booth. Each of you were excellent representatives of the Fort Vancouver Rose Society!
ARRANGEMENT WORKSHOPS
We are pleased to, once again, provide Arrangement Workshops in 2025 to the FVRS membership and the public. Arrangements Chair Julie Goggin held the first workshop of 2025 on Wednesday, February 5, with subsequent monthly workshops taking place the first Wednesday in March and April and then on Wednesday, April 30. The next workshop will be Wednesday, June 4, at 2 p.m. at the home of Kathy Fry, 13108 NE 22nd Street in Vancouver.
Julie has spearheaded this effort in our society to teach floral arranging with our beloved roses. She has sparked the creative talent in many and given confidence to her workshop participants, many of whom exhibited at the FVRS 69th Annual Rose Show in June last year and provided beautiful centerpiece arrangements at our In-House Rose Show last September and at most of our General Membership meetings.
THANK YOU to all the participants who create beautiful arrangements for our meetings and competitions.
